Hawks open season with a 1-1 tie at home

Rockhurst opened the 2021 spring season with 1-1 tie against Southwest Baptist Friday night at Bourke Field.

Alessandro Macchioni put the Hawks in front 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when he got a shot past the SBU keeper just inside the box off a pass from Max Pycior. The Bearcats tied the score in the 87th minute on a header shot off a right cross.

Rockhurst collected 14 shots and held SBU to five shots. Federico Verlicchi led the Hawks with four shots. Brenden Dolan posted two shots.

Goalkeeper Fabio D'Errico made one save in his first career start.

The Hawks (0-0-1) play at Drury on Sunday.
