Hawks open season with 4-0 win over Baker

The Rockhurst men's tennis team opened the spring season with a 4-0 victory over Baker Saturday at the Genesis Health Club in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Hawks captured a point in doubles. Simon Birgerson and Martijn Eleveld were winners in No. 1 doubles by a 6-1 score. Ermanno Galimberti and Brian King posted a 6-2 victory in No. 3 doubles.

Birgerson won his No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-3, over Baker's Alejandro Hernandez. Nicolas Leon defeated Carson Fitzgerald, 6-0, 6-2, in No. 3 singles. Joe Harris collected a 7-5, 6-2 win over Adam Ruckman in No. 4 singles.

The Hawks (1-0) will be back in action March 5 against Ottawa at the Plaza Tennis Center.
