Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Offense carries Hawks to 92-56 win over Avila

Five players scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to a 92-56 victory over Avila Friday afternoon at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks shot 53.2 percent from the field, including shooting a blistering 70.4 percent in the second half behind 10-of-12 three-point shooting.

"I was happy with our performance today," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "We played inside out pretty well and were able to string a bunch of stops together at the end of the first half and into the second half.

"This is always a scary game playing at noon with the field trip festivities happening prior to the game, so I'm happy with how the guys were able to have a good approach after warm-up."

The Hawks closed the first half on a 9-2 run to take a 38-26 halftime lead. Rockhurst went on a 36-16 run in the second half to take an 84-51 lead with 2:43 left in the game.
