Hawks explode for 93 points in win at home

A balanced scoring attack led Rockhurst to a 93-68 victory over Baptist Bible College Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House. The Hawks connected on a season-high 36 field goals while shooting 48.0 percent from the field.

Rockhurst closed out the first half on a 26-10 run to take a 49-32 halftime lead. The Hawks led 88-51 with 6:47 left in the second half before the Patriots ended the game on a 17-5 run.

"Our guys came out and played hard and played well," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "(Baptist Bible) is in a rough stretch with a ton of games in a short amount of days so we wanted to get on them early."
 
Nick Volz led the Hawks with 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. The senior forward connected on seven-of-10 field goals.

Rich Byhre posted 14 points and five rebounds. Jake Auer scored 14 points on six-of-12 shooting. Mikal Gjerde collected 13 points and five rebounds.

Charlie Hoehne added nine points, seven rebounds and three assists. Nick Arensberg also scored nine points. Spencer Moes tallied eight points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals. Rron Thaci scored a season-high eight points.

"It's great to see many guys make contributions in that game and seeing the guys have some success in the offensive end," Diener added.

Baptist Bible shot 30.4 percent from the field (21 of 69). Tre Flowers led the Patriots with 13 points.
