Hawks are No. 8 seed in Midwest Regional

The Hawks will be traveling to Michigan next week.

The Rockhurst Hawks received their 14th invitation to the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships. Eighth-seeded Rockhurst (20-11) will meet No. 1-seeded Ferris State (25-4) in a first-round match on December 2 at 5 p.m. Eastern time in the Midwest Regional at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

The Midwest Regional winner will advance to the Division II national championships, Dec. 9-11, at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center in Tampa, Florida. Tampa University will serve as the host.

The Hawks are returning to the NCAA Championships for the seventh time since 2014. Rockhurst has won three of the past five NCAA Midwest Regional titles.

Rockhurst swept Hillsdale in the 2019 regional finals at Lewis, defeated Lewis in the 2017 regional finals at Lewis, and turned back Ferris State in the 2015 regional finals at Ferris State. The Hawks also reached the regional finals in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2014 and 2018.

Senior outside hitter Averi Vomastic leads the Hawks in kills (366) and points (428). Senior middle hitter Justice Wingate is the team leader in blocks (128). Sophomore libero Maureen Reilly has posted a team-high 575 digs. Senior setter Gabbie Inman tops the team with 640 assists.
