Quick start leads Lions past Rockhurst

A pair of early goals led the Lindenwood Lions to a 3-0 victory over Rockhurst in men's soccer Sunday at Bourke Field.

Lindenwood took a 1-0 lead on an eight-yard shot in the 15th minute. It was the first goal allowed by Rockhurst in over 409 minutes.

The Lions came back three minutes later to score from 18 yards out and added their third goal in the 69th minute on a 22-yard free kick.

Rockhurst collected 14 shots and five shots on goal. Jordan Andrews led the Hawks with three shots. Jacopo Belardo, Alessandro Macchioni and Blake Mann each posted two shots. Fabio D'Errico finished with three saves.

The Hawks (4-5-1, 3-2-1 GLVC) play at Southern Indiana Friday night.
