Hawks fall at home to Lewis, 2-1

Lewis connected on two shots from outside the goalie box to carry the Flyers to a 2-1 men's soccer victory over Rockhurst Friday night at Bourke Field.

The Flyers (7-3-2, 5-3-1 GLVC) scored in the 42nd minute on a 22-yard shot off a failed clearance. Lewis notched it second goal on a 20-yard shot off a blocked shot in the 60th minute.

The Hawks got on the scoreboard with 12 seconds left in the game. Parker Esparza connected on a header from five yards out off a long flip-throw by freshman defender Connor Brummett for his second career goal.

Rockhurst finished with 10 shots and three shots on goal. Jeremiah Musa led the Hawks with two shots and two shots on goal. Chase Klusman, Nick Pycior and Esparza each had a shot on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Peter Baker posted four saves, three in the first half and one in the second half

The Hawks (4-8-1, 3-5-1 GLVC) host second-ranked Indianapolis Sunday afternoon.
