Carolina Mayorga-Perry led the Hawks to 295 total dual victories, two GLVC men's championships and eight combined NCAA tournament appearances.
Carolina Mayorga-Perry has announced she is stepping down as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Rockhurst University, effective Tuesday, June 30, announced RU Director of Athletics Gary Burns.

Mayorga-Perry recently completed her 13th season with the program and tied Kendell Hale as the longest-tenured varsity head coach in the program's history.

"Rockhurst has been blessed by the great leadership Coach Mayorga-Perry has provided the last 13 years," Burns said. "She is not only an amazing coach, but an even better person. Her love and care for the student-athletes and our tennis program have created a point of pride for the University. Carolina will be greatly missed, and always appreciated."

Mayorga-Perry arrived on campus for the 2008 spring season and led the program to 295 total dual victories, two GLVC men's championships and eight combined NCAA tournament appearances.

The Rockhurst men captured their second GLVC Championship in 2011 and the 32nd-ranked Hawks earned their first-ever trip to the NCAA National Championships in Florida. The men advanced to the national quarterfinals and finished with a 22-4 record.

The Hawks also won the GLVC Men's Tennis Championship in 2009 and finished 26th in the ITA national poll. Rockhurst hosted the first two rounds and advanced to the second round.

Mayorga-Perry also led the Rockhurst women to the finals of the GLVC Tournament and into the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional in 2009 and 2012. The Hawks were ranked 35th in the ITA Division II national poll.

She was named the GLVC Men's Coach of the Year and ITA Midwest Region Men's Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011.

Mayorga-Perry was a two-time All-American at the University of Kentucky in 2001-02 and was named to the Kentucky Women's Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017. She was an NCAA doubles semifinalist and ranked No. 3 in the nation. She was also the recipient of the National Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship in 2002.

A recipient of the Southeastern Conference Community Service Award in 2002, Mayorga-Perry was a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. Prior to attending Kentucky, she was a national tennis champion in Colombia.

After graduating from Kentucky in 2003, Mayorga-Perry was an assistant tennis professional in Lexington, Kentucky. She has served as the director of tennis at the National Golf Club in Kansas City since 2003.
