GLVC recognizes Birgerson as Spalding Sportsmanship honoree

Freshman Simon Birgerson has been recognized by the GLVC in the sport of men’s tennis as an honoree of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.

Rockhurst freshman Simon Birgerson has been recognized by the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the sport of men's tennis as an honoree of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.

The representatives from 16 GLVC schools were chosen by their respective coaches to have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior this season.

These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Birgerson, of Lyckeby, Sweden, posted a 5-1 record in singles and 2-0 record in his freshman season.

Birgerson is now eligible to become one of RU's two overall James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced on Monday, May 18.
