Rockhurst falls at No. 15 Colorado Mesa, 14-10

The Rockhurst Hawks dropped their first game of the season, falling 14-10 to 15th-ranked Colorado Mesa Sunday in Grand Junction, Colorado.

The 11th-ranked Hawks (5-1) outshot Mesa, 52-37, but only led once for a short time in the second quarter. The Mavericks outscored Rockhurst 8-1 to take a 13-7 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Sam Lindahl scored back-to-back goals with 6:02 left in the game to cut Mesa's lead to 13-10. The Mavericks shut out the Hawks the rest of the way.

Lindahl led the Hawks with five goals, 10 shots and five ground balls. Alec Heflin had two goals and eight shots. Brooks Hanson posted two assists and four ground balls.

Sal Valdivia won nine-of-16 faceoffs with three ground balls. Patrick Fitzsimmons finished with eight saves.


The Hawks (5-1) play at Colorado State-Pueblo on Tuesday.
