Hawks fall in overtime to Indianapolis, 86-78

Indianapolis scored the first seven points in overtime on the way to posting an 86-78 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Greyhounds rallied from a four-point deficit, 71-67, in the final 16 seconds to put the game into overtime. UIndy tied the game at 72-all on a layup by Trevor Lakes with four seconds left in the second half.
 
"That is a tough one to swallow. That was our game to win and it really stings," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener.
 
Rockhurst used a 10-2 run down the stretch in the second half to go from four down to four up in the final minute. Chris Hamil capped the run with a fastbreak layup with 28 seconds remaining.

Hamil led the Hawks with 22 points and scored all six of the Hawks' points in overtime. He made four 3-pointers and posted a team-high five assists.
 
Quinton Curry posted 21 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Curtis Lewis finished with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Nick Volz added nine points, five rebounds and three assists before fouling out with 16 seconds left in the second half.
 
Rockhurst (13-8, 9-4 GLVC) shot 50.0 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from the foul line.
 
The Hawks host 12th-ranked Bellarmine on Saturday.
