Hawks open series at U.S. Bank Stadium with two losses

Rockhurst dropped the first two games of a three-game indoor series against Bemidji State Friday at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Bemidji State rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Hawks, 4-3, in the first game. The Beavers won the second game, 8-0.

The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Garrett McNally. An RBI double by Tommy Kraus in the seventh gave Rockhurst a 3-1 lead.

Bemidji State took advantage of a walk and an outfield error to put the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the seventh. Back-to-back two-out singles gave the Beavers a walk-off win in their first game of the season.

Kraus had a team-high two hits. Jack Eisenbarger gave up two runs on seven hits and four walks over six-plus innings.

In the nightcap, Connor Ellefson led the Hawks with two of the team's five hits. CJ July (0-1) allowed six runs on six hits and four walks over 5.2 innings.

The series will conclude with a single game at noon Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
