The Rockhurst Hawks cut Concordia-St. Paul's lead to two midway through the second half, but a late run propelled the Bears to a 14-6 victory Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Emelia Boillat found the back of the net off an assist from
Logan Derosia to cut the deficit to 8-6, but Concordia scored the game's final six goals.
Helen Krause opened the scoring, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the first half. Krause finished with a team-high three goals, while Boillat,
Marianna Anderson and
Clare Goessling each scored once.
Audrey Ford collected two assists.
Defensively,
Spud Ring and
Mackenzie Blair each caused three turnovers.
Emily Duff (seven saves) and
Madeline Morrison (four saves) split time at goalie for Rockhurst.
The Hawks (0-2) will look to bounce back Sunday vs. Colorado-Colorado Springs (11:00 a.m.).
