Rockhurst returns home from Texas with 2-2 record

Rockhurst will leave the Lone Star State with a record of 2-2 after a pair of losses Saturday against top 10 competition.

The 14th-ranked Hawks fell to No. 10 Tarleton State (27-25, 18-25, 17-25, 21-25) and No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth (19-25, 22-25, 17-25) at the Texan Invitational in Stephenville, Texas.

The Hawks won a thrilling first set against Tarleton, 27-25, but the home team settled in and took the next three sets to win the match, 3-1.

Jessica Schlautman and Jadyn Makovicka kept plays alive, each posting an impressive 23 digs. Karli Reichert tallied a game-high 17 kills. Alyssa Woodman collected 13 kills and 12 digs, while Audrey Arand added 12 kills. Dani Prusha totaled a game-high 42 assists. Morgan Conner led the way in blocks with three.

In the nightcap, Minnesota-Duluth was as tough as their No. 6 ranking would indicate.The Bulldogs downed the Hawks in three sets to finish the weekend 3-1.

Reichert and Woodman combined for 19 kills, while Justice Wingate added five kills. Prusha posted 26 assists and seven digs. Makovicka tallied a team-high 18 digs, while Schlautman chipped in eight digs.

Makovicka and Arand were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Hawks will next travel to Kearney, Nebraska to play four matches in the Rosella Meier Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday.
