Hawks shoot for better results on the road

The Rockhurst men's soccer team hopes playing on the road will be kinder to them than playing at home. The Hawks travel to Southwest Baptist (Friday, 7:30 p.m.) and Drury (Sunday, 2:30 p.m.) after dropping two home games last week.

Rockhurst (1-3-1, 1-2 GLVC) suffered a pair of 1-0 losses to Truman State and Quincy last week at Bourke Field. Truman scored in the second overtime while Quincy broke a scoreless tie in the 89th minute.

Southwest Baptist (0-5, 0-3 GLVC) will be looking for its first-ever conference victory. The Bearcats scored eight goals in their first four games before being shut out by Maryville, 4-0, last Sunday.

The Hawks will be meeting Southwest Baptist for the first time since 2001. Rockhurst posted three wins over the Bearcats from 1999-01.

Drury (4-2, 2-1 GLVC) is coming off a 4-3 victory over Missouri S&T on Sunday. The Panthers have allowed 10 goals in their last three games after holding their first three opponents to one goal.

Since 1998, Rockhurst holds a 12-5-2 advantage over Drury. The Hawks blanked the Panthers 1-0 last year in Springfield.

Both matches will be streamed for free on the Great Lakes Valley Conference Sports Network (GLVCSN.com).
