Hawks chosen fifth in GLVC Preseason Poll

Greg Herdlick ranks 27th among active Division II coaches with 212 career victories.

The Rockhurst women's soccer team nabbed fifth place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced Thursday (Aug. 22) by the league office.

Greg Herdlick, who returns for his 21st season as the head coach at Rockhurst, ranks 27th among active Division II coaches with 212 career victories. Ten starters are back from last year's GLVC Championship team, which posted an 11-8-2 record and 8-5 GLVC mark.

The GLVC regular season will feature a 15-match, round-robin schedule with the regular season champion, along with the next seven best teams based on Conference winning percentage, earning a berth to the eight-team GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. Seeds 1-4 will host seeds 5-8 on campus Nov. 10 with the winners advancing to the Woehrle Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Indiana, for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 15 and 17.

Truman State earned 206 total points and five first-place votes in the GLVC Preseason Poll to nab the top spot. McKendree earned 200 total votes and six first-place votes in the GLVC poll and finished second in the poll..
