The Rockhurst women's lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the second half to pull away from Colorado State-Pueblo in a 16-5 win Friday at Bourke Field.
Marianna Anderson (seven goals) and
Logan Derosia (five goals) ignited the Hawks offensively.
The first half was a defensive battle as Rockhurst took a 6-2 lead into the break. The Hawks scored the first four goals of the second half -- two apiece from Anderson and Derosia -- to surge ahead 10-2, taking control of the game.
Audrey Ford added two goals, while
Hannah Miller and
Alex Tetu each got on the board with one goal. Derosia led the way in draw controls with eight, while
Maddi Scheipeter added four.
The Hawks capitalized on 22 Pueblo turnovers, with Anderson,
Emelia Boillat,
Spud Ring and
Hanna Meek each causing two turrnovers.
Molly Dunham was solid in goal for Rockhurst, collecting six saves and reeling in a game-high four ground balls.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 7-6 (4-2 RMAC) on the season. They are back in action at Bourke Field on Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m. vs. Johnson & Wales University.
