Late goal gives No. 8 Lindenwood an 11-10 win over Hawks

The Rockhurst women's lacrosse team gave No. 8 Lindenwood everything they wanted and more Thursday night at Bourke Field, but a late goal secured an 11-10 win for the Lions.

Tied 10-10 in the final minute, a Carly Fedorowski goal with 53 seconds remaining helped Lindenwood escape with a one-goal victory.

After one half of play the score was tied 6-6. The Hawks maintained their intensity and sound play in the second half, surging ahead 8-6 and taking a 9-8 lead into the final 10 minutes.

Trailing 10-9, an Olivia Collier free position goal evened the score at the 2:11 mark, demonstrating the great poise Coach Molly McCourt's team played with all night in a tight game.

Molly Dunham was great in goal for the Hawks, racking up 13 saves against an aggressive Lindenwood offense who attempted 31 shots.

Marianna Anderson came out firing for Rockhurst, scoring four goals (all in the first half), setting the tone and letting the Lions know they were in for a battle.

Logan Derosia and Audrey Ford each added two goals apiece. Derosia collected a team-high four draw controls.

Hanna Meek was active as always, causing three turnovers, collecting three draw controls and reeling in two ground balls. Collier added a goal and two ground balls. Maddi Scheipeter tallied two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Spud Ring tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with three.

The Hawks (8-7, 4-3 RMAC) are back in action Saturday on the road vs. Oklahoma Baptist.
