Hawks close out series at Lewis on Monday

Rockhurst will close out its series at Lewis on Monday, hoping to salvage the final game of the three-game series.

Lewis captured the first two games with one-run victories on Saturday. The Flyers won the first game, 12-11, and rallied for a 7-6 victory in the second game.

The Flyers won the opener with a walk-off home run in the ninth inning after the Hawks rallied from a 9-3 deficit in the seventh. Rockhurst outhit Lewis, 19-13.

Garrett McNally led the Hawks with three hits and two RBIs. Connor Ellefson and Craig Straws also had three hits. Tommy Kraus, Colby Smith and Tyler Stamer each had two hits. Stamer hit a three-run home run in the seventh.

In the second game, Lewis scored four runs in the fifth to overcome a 4-2 deficit. The Hawks finished with nine hits. Alex Van Pelt collected three hits. Nathan Mark doubled home two runs in the fifth.

Rockhurst (8-26, 5-18 GLVC) will play a single game at Saint Louis University at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
