Hawks capture series finale over Bellarmine

Nathan Mark collected four hits and drove in three runs to lead Rockhurst to a 10-6 victory over Bellarmine in the final game of a three-game series Saturday at Loyola Park.

Mark broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run single in the eighth inning. The Hawks scored five runs on four hits in the eighth, which was set up by two walks and a throwing error by the pitcher. Garrett McNally, Luke Sosaya and Colby Smith added RBI singles.

McNally finished with three hits and three RBIs, highlighted by a run-scoring double in the third. Smith posted two hits and two RBIs. Noah Huston and Alex Van Pelt each had two hits as the Hawks tallied a season-high 16 hits.

Thomas Jones (1-0) picked up the win. The freshman right-hander allowed two runs on three hits in 3.1 innings.

Bellarmine won the first two games of the series on Friday, 10-0 and 4-2. The Knights combined for four home runs, including a two-run home run in the ninth to break a 2-2 tie in the second game.

The Hawks (5-17, 2-9 GLVC) play a single game at Drury on Tuesday afternoon.
