Hawks handle Fort Lewis for fourth straight victory

Marianna Anderson and Logan Derosia each scored five goals as Rockhurst notched its fourth consecutive win, defeating Fort Lewis College, 18-2, Monday afternoon in Aztec, New Mexico.

The Hawks dominated possession and shots, putting 29 shots on goal to the Skyhawks' six. Rockhurst scored the game's final 12 goals after Fort Lewis pulled within four at 6-2 in the first half.

Hannah Miller posted three goals for the Hawks, while Audrey Ford added two goals. Emelia Boillat, Olivia Collier and Helen Krause each got on the board as well with one goal apiece.

Derosia collected a game-high six ground balls and six draw controls, in addition to her five goals. Maddi Scheipeter tallied five draw controls and added an assist for the Hawks. Jaylin Johnson energized the Rockhurst defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Hanna Meek brought in three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Anderson added three ground balls and two draw controls.

Molly Dunham and Emily Duff each collected two saves in net for the Hawks, and held Fort Lewis scoreless in the second half.

The win is Rockhurst's first ever in the state of New Mexico. The game was moved to Aztec Tiger Sports Complex because of unplayable field conditions on the Skyhawks' campus in Durango, Colorado.

The Hawks (5-4, 2-0 RMAC) conclude their road trip Wednesday and will go for their fifth straight victory, taking on Colorado Mesa (5:00 p.m.).
