Second-ranked Limestone shuts down Rockhurst offense

Second-ranked Limestone shut down the Rockhurst offense in a 16-3 victory over the Hawks Monday in Gaffney, South Carolina.

Limestone scored six goals in the first period while holding 14th-ranked Rockhurst to a single goal by Kai Trujillo. Sam Lindahl scored a goal early in the second period to cut Limestone's lead to 7-2.

Drake O'Neill collected the Hawks' only goal in the second half. O'Neill led Rockhurst with 12 shots, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Lindahl tallied nine shots and five ground balls. Pfeil posted five ground balls and five saves. Zach Bodeau won six-of-12 faceoffs. Oliver Byers and John Myran each tallied six shots. Connor Hill and Will Tegankemp combined for nine ground balls.

Rockhurst outshot Limestone, 56-45. Limestone stopped 16 Rockhurst shots.

The Hawks (4-2, 1-0 GLVC) return to conference action Wednesday at Shorter University (Ga.).
