The Rockhurst women's lacrosse team opened the 2019 season with a 17-12 loss at Benedictine College Saturday in Atchison, Kansas.
Benedictine jumped out to a 12-3 lead at halftime. The Hawks outscored the Ravens 9-5 in the second half. The Ravens outshot Rockhurst, 34-26.
Marianna Anderson led the Hawks with five goals on seven shots, including three free position shot goals. She also had two draw controls and one caused turnover.
Hannah Miller scored three goals on five shots with one assist.
Maddi Scheipeter added two goals on five shots with three draw controls.
Emily Duff posted nine saves.
The Hawks (0-1) travel to Florida for three games, beginning Thursday at Florida Southern.
