Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Balanced attack powers Hawks to 3-0 victory

Four Hawks tallied double digit kills as 20th-ranked Rockhurst earned a 3-0 sweep over the Indianapolis Greyhounds Friday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

It was a balanced effort offensively for Coach Tracy Rietzke's team as Karli Reichert (13 kills), Mary Rolf (12 kills), Audrey Arand (12 kills) and Alyssa Woodman (10 kills) all had a significant role in the sweep.

Dani Prusha racked up 41 assists, putting her hitters in favorable positions all night. "Dani did a nice job moving the ball around," assistant coach Brian Tate said. "Pretty efficient offense hitting over .300. We have to keep that consistency."

Jadyn Makovicka recorded a game-high 24 digs. Justice Wingate added seven kills and a team-high four blocks.

Set One: Rockhurst 25, UIndy 14
The Greyhounds led early in the set and were within one at 13-12, but the Hawks exploded for 12 of the final 14 points in the opening set. Rockhurst capitalized on several Indy attack errors down the stretch.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, UIndy 22
Indianapolis jumped out to a 16-12 lead, but Rockhurst responded with seven of the next eight points, surging ahead 19-17. The Greyhounds would get back within one at 19-18 and 21-20, but kills from Rolf and Woodman shot down the Indy comeback attempt.

Set Three: Rockhurst 27, UIndy 25
The Hawks opened up a 10-5 lead in the third set and appeared ready to close out the match, but Indy stormed back. Trailing 18-15, the Greyhounds rattled off seven straight points to take a 22-18 lead. The Hawks regained their composure out of a timeout and scored the next three points. Indy still got to set point on three separate occasions at 24-22, 24-23 and 25-24, but Rockhurst was able to hang around until three straight Reichert kills put the Hawks over the top and clinched the sweep.

Rockhurst improves to 23-6 (11-1 GLVC). The Hawks celebrate Senior Day on Saturday vs. Bellarmine (3:00 p.m.).
