Hawks wrap up GLVC regular season crown

The Rockhurst Hawks swept Illinois Springfield, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-14), to capture the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season volleyball championship Saturday in Springfield, Illinois.

The Hawks will be the top seed in the GLVC Tournament and will play Missouri S&T in the quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. Friday in East Peoria, Illinois. The semifinals are on Saturday and finals on Sunday.

Karli Reichert led the 20th-ranked Hawks (26-7, 13-2 GLVC) with 17 kills and seven digs. Alyssa Woodman posted 10 kills and seven digs.

Audrey Arand collected seven 10 kills and 12 digs. Mary Rolf tallied seven digs and seven blocks. Dani Prusha collected 38 assists and 11 digs. Jadyn Makovicka added 12 digs.

Set One: Rockhurst 25, Illinois Springfield 18
The Hawks closed out the set on 12-5 run. Rolf led the way with five kills.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, Illinois Springfield 21
Rockhurst went on a 13-5 run to take a 14-10 lead. Reichert and Woodman combined for nine kills.

Set Three: Rockhurst 25, Illinois Springfield 14
The Hawks jumped out to a 10-1 lead and ended the set on a 4-1 run. Arand led the Hawks with eight kills.

Karli Reichert. The 2018 First Team All-American led the Hawks with 17 kills and 19.5 points.
