Hawks fall short at Lindenwood, 2-1

Lindenwood scored two goals in the first 20 minutes and held off a Rockhurst rally in the second half to hold on for a 2-1 victory Friday night in St. Charles, Missouri.

The Hawks broke into the scoring column in the second half when Jordan Andrews connected on a penalty kick in the 48th minute for his fourth goal of the season.

Lindenwood played the final 19 minutes with 10 players after Gasper Alvarez was given a red card. The Lions stopped three Rockhurst shots after getting their red card.

The Lions scored in the 15th minute and added their second goal five minutes later. Lindenwood posted eight shots in the first half and held the Hawks to one shot.

Rockhurst outshot Lindenwood 8-4 in the second half as the Hawks finished with nine shots. Andrews, Federico Verlicchi, Marco Cora and Josh Lindell each had two shots to lead the Hawks.

Peter Baker made six saves in goal. The Hawks (4-6-2, 4-5-1 GLVC) play at Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday (2:30 p.m.).
