Hawks are seeded No. 2 in Midwest Region Crossover

The 12th annual Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover Tournament, the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament, will be held at the Academy Volleyball Club in Indianapolis, Indiana on Oct. 18-19. The Rockhurst Hawks are the No. 2 seed from the GLVC and will play three matches over two days.

The 17th-ranked Hawks (16-4, 6-1 GLVC) open play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. EST against 16th-ranked Hillsdale (14-2, 5-0 GMAC). Rockhurst will face 13th-ranked Ferris State (14-3, 8-1 GLIAC) at 10:00 am EST on Saturday and Trevecca Nazarene (11-10, 2-3 GMAC) at 4 p.m. EST Saturday. Hillsdale is the No. 2 seed in the GMAC, Ferris State is the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC and Trevecca Nazarene is the No. 6 seed in the GMAC.

"We will have three tough games. Hillsdale and Ferris State have outstanding records and are both nationally-ranked. Trevecca Nazarene has a winning record and is a quality opponent," said Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke.

The regional volleyball event will feature 16 Great Lakes Valley Conference teams, 12 institutions representing the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 13 programs from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Rockhurst posted a 2-1 record at the 2018 Midwest Region Crossover in Indianapolis. The Hawks are 24-9 all-time at the Crossover.

The two-day tournament will feature 54 matches conducted on 10 courts throughout six sessions at one of the top volleyball facilities in the country. The event, designed to increase competition between teams from the three leagues in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region, has previously been held in Aurora, Illinois and Lansing, Michigan.
