Balanced offense powers Hawks to 115-76 win at home

Six players scored in double figures to power Rockhurst to a 115-76 victory over Kansas Christian College in a special School Day game Tuesday afternoon at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks jumped out to a 64-31 halftime lead behind 65.8 percent shooting. Rockhurst widened its lead to 47 (92-45) with 12:05 left in the game.

Chris Hamil led the Hawks with 19 points on seven-of-11 shooting. The sophomore guard connected on five-of-six 3-point field goals as Rockhurst made a season-high 19 3-pointers.

"It was great to get our bench guys so many minutes," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "They work hard and have been great teammates. We have a deep bench and we were able to utilize all of our healthy guys.

Nick Volz posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Eddie Muench tallied 12 points and nine assists. Quinton Curry collected 10 points and nine rebounds. Curtis Lewis finished with 10 points and three assists.

Zach Burch scored a career-high 14 points on seven-of-eight shooting. Auston Rushing had nine points and six assists. Connor Evans posted nine points and three assists. Tyler Garrett added six points and nine assists.

Rockhurst shot 62.2 percent from the field (46 of 74) and hit 19 of 34 3-point field goals (55.9 percent). Elijah Ransom led KCC (9-3) with 16 points. The Falcons shot 45.9 percent from the field (28 of 61).

"Now it is all GLVC games. We have a huge game on Saturday that we have to starting prepping for tomorrow," added Diener.

The Hawks (9-5, 3-1 GLVC) host William Jewell on Saturday. The game has been moved up to an 11:00 a.m. tipoff to avoid a conflict with the Kansas City Chiefs' playoff game Saturday afternoon.
