Southern Indiana held Rockhurst to a season-low scoring total as the Screaming Eagles led from the start in collecting a 78-59 victory over the Hawks Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Eagles jumped out to a 36-22 halftime lead while holding the Hawks to nine-of-27 shooting from the field. The Hawks never got closer than 12 points in the second half.
Quinton Curry led the Hawks with 24 points on eight-of-12 shooting. The sophomore forward scored 14 points in the second half and finished with nine rebounds.
Nick Volz paced Rockhurst (10-6, 4-2 GLVC) with 11 rebounds while scoring seven points.
Curtis Lewis scored eight points, while
Chris Hamil tallied seven points and three assists.
Rockhurst shot 36.8 percent from the field (21 of 57) and hit 12 of 31 3-point field goals (38.7 percent). The Eagles outrebounded Rockhurst, 38-36.
Alex Stein led USI (12-4, 4-2 GLVC) with 26 points. The Eagles shot 46.7 percent from the field (28 of 60).
