Hawks explode for 3-0 win over Truman State

The Rockhurst offense broke out for a season-high three goals in coming away with an impressive 3-0 victory over Truman State Friday night at Bourke Field.

The victory boosts Rockhurst head coach Tony Tocco to 698 career wins, now one behind all-time leader Jay Martin of Ohio Wesleyan, who will be going after his 700th career win on Saturday.  

Senior defender Sal Caruso knocked in a shot in front of the goal to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute with assists from Federico Verlicchi and Swann Vincent. Umoh Ufot converted early in the second half on a 12-yard shot after receiving a pass from Pablo Salvador Lopez. The Hawks wrapped up the scoring when Gianluca Bottoni converted on a penalty kick in the 77th minute.

Rockhurst posted 14 shots and four shots on goal. The Bulldogs collected 11 shots and three shots on goal. Verlicchi led the Hawks with four shots. Nandor Benucci added three shots. Freshman Nick Randazzo posted three saves in goal.

The Hawks (2-2-2, 1-0-2 GLVC) host Missouri-St. Louis Sunday afternoon.
