Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tocco is one victory shy of 700 with 2-0 win over UMSL

Tony Tocco moved to within one victory of 700 career wins after Rockhurst posted a 2-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday at Bourke Field.

Tocco, who is one victory behind all-time college wins leader Jay Martin of Division III Ohio Wesleyan, will try to become the second member of the 700-win club on Friday when the Hawks play at Maryville University. Martin became the first college men's soccer coach to win 700 games Saturday night at home.

The Hawks scored both of their goals in the win over UMSL early in the second half. Senior forward Umoh Ufot drillled a 17-yard shot right down the middle to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute. Pablo Salvador Lopez and Swann Vincent assisted on the goal. Vincent same back nine minutes later for the Hawks' second goal. He hit a left-footed shot inside the left post from 12 yards out off passes from Federico Verlicchi and Gianluca Bottoni.

Rockhurst posted 14 shots and five shots on goal. The Tritons collected six shots and one shot on goal. Ufot and Chandler Parrish led the Hawks with three shots each. Bottoni added two shots. Freshman goalkeeper Nick Randazzo finished with his second shutout in three days.

The Hawks (3-2-2, 2-0-2 GLVC) travel to Maryville and Missouri S&T next weekend.
