Rockhurst settles for 0-0 tie at home

The Rockhurst men came away with a conference tie for the second time in three days, settling for a 0-0 tie against Illinois Springfield Sunday at Bourke Field.

Springfield stopped six shots, including making two team saves, to frustrate the Rockhurst offense, which has been held to five goals in five games.

Freshman Dylan Brown almost gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the first half. His shot in the 26th minute was saved by a Prairie Star defender. A header shot by Preston Mboob was turned away from the goal by a Springfield defender with 15 seconds left in the second overtime period.

Rockhurst posted 19 shots and six shots on goal. The Prairie Stars collected nine shots and three shots on goal. Nandor Benucci and Federico Verlicchi each had three shots to lead the Hawks. Freshman Nick Randazzo made three saves in goal.

The Hawks (1-2-2, 0-0-2 GLVC) host Truman State Friday night.
