After dropping its first set of the season, the Rockhurst volleyball team rallied for a 3-1 victory over Adams State in the Lady Buff Classic (22-25, 25-18, 25-11, 25-19) Saturday in Canyon, Texas.

Junior right side hitter Emma Kriete led the 10th-ranked Hawks with 13 kills. Alyssa Woodman collected 12 kills (all in the final three sets). Karli Reichert and Audrey Arand both finished with nine kills. Emily Matio added seven kills.

Senior libero Kalie Arnold tallied 15 digs. Setter Dani Prusha paced the Hawks with 24 assists. Freshman setter Gabbie Inman added 20 assists and 11 digs.

"We started sloppy, but after the first set we played pretty well," said Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke.

Set One: Adams State 25, Rockhurst 22
The Hawks never led in the set after falling behind 7-3. Adams State closed the set on a 9-6 run after the Hawks tied the score at 16-all.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, Adams State 18
The Hawks scored three unanswered points to take a 17-12 lead. Four of RU's last six points came off ASU hitting errors. Kriete and Reichert combined for nine kills.

Set Three: Rockhurst 25, Adams State 11
Rockhurst pulled away behind an 8-0 run to take a 20-12 lead. Kriete and Woodman each had four kills with one hitting error.

Set Four: Rockhurst 25, Adams State 19
Woodman helped close out the match with six kills in the fourth set. Audrey Arand added four kills. The Hawks made eight hitting errors with a .114 hitting percentage.

Player of the Match
Emma Kriete. The junior from Washington, Missouri posted a .375 hitting percentage with her 13 kills. She had five kills in the second set and four kills in the third set.
