Woodman leads 10th-ranked Hawks past West Texas A&M

Behind a dominant hitting performance, the Rockhurst volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over West Texas A&M on the Buffs' home floor in the Lady Buff Classic (25-13, 25-22, 25-12) Friday in Canyon, Texas.

Junior outside hitter Alyssa Woodman paced the 10th-ranked Hawks with 13 kills. Karli Reichert and Emma Kriete each finished with nine kills. Emily Matio and Mary Rolf combined for 13 kills.

Senior libero Kalie Arnold posted 15 digs and Reichert added 10 digs. Sophomore setter Dani Prusha led the Hawks with 24 assists, while freshman Gabbie Inman tallied 16 assists.

"Everyone played well. We got off to a great start," said Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke.

Set One: Rockhurst 25, West Texas A&M 1
The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead as West Texas committed four hitting errors. Woodman and Reichert each had four kills in the opening set.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, West Texas A&M 22
Rockhurst rallied from a 13-12 deficit to edge the Buffs. The lead changed hands five times. Woodman's seventh kill of the set was the clinching point.

Set Three: Rockhurst 25, West Texas A&M 12
The Hawks took control early, grabbing an 11-3 lead. Kriete and Rolf combined for nine kills and four blocks. Rockhurst only made one hitting error in the set while hitting .536.

Player of the Match
Alyssa Woodman. The junior from Omaha, Nebraska finished with a .500 hitting percentage and a team-high 13 kills. She had seven kills without making an error in the second set.
