Missouri-Kansas City scored two early goals in defeating Rockhurst, 2-0, in an exhibition match Saturday night at UMKC's Durwood Stadium.

The Kangaroos scored on a penalty kick in the 18th minute and scored their second goal five minutes later off a corner kick.

UMKC outshot the Hawks, 9-8. Marco Cora and Federico Verlicchi led Rockhurst with two shots apiece.

Freshman goalkeeper Peter Baker posted two saves in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Nick Randazzo held the Roos scoreless in the second half.

Third-ranked Rockhurst will open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 2 at home against Fort Hays State.
