The Rockhurst Hawks will host a non-conference four-game series with Illinois Springfield of the Great Lakes Valley Conference this weekend.
The Prairie Stars (13-4) come into the weekend on a hot streak, winning their last five contests. Springfield has lost just one game in its last 14 games, a 6-3 loss in extra innings against Hillsdale College.
Rockhurst (5-7) is coming off a 17-3 victory at home over Fort Hays State on Wednesday.
Alex Van Pelt leads the team in RBIs with 17 and remains on a hot streak at the plate, owning a batting average of .500 in 46 at-bats.
The first game between Rockhurst and Springfield is set to begin at noon Saturday at the Loyola Park baseball field, followed by a second game 30 minutes after the opener. Sunday's doubleheader is scheduled for 12 p.m.
Women's Lacrosse: Hawks continue RMAC play at home on Friday
Coming off an 16-8 loss on Wednesday at home to Colorado-Mesa, the Hawks host Westminster (Utah) at home on Friday at 4 p.m. at Bourke Field.
Shayna Stevens led the Hawks (6-3, 3-2 RMAC) with three goals against Colorado-Mesa.
Hannah Miller and
Clare Goessling each added two goals apiece.
Senior goalie
Leena Nabulsi played all 60 minutes in goal for the Hawks. Nabulsi made 12 saves and five ground balls.
Softball: Rockhurst opens home schedule against GLVC foes
On Saturday, the Hawks begin play at the Loyola Park softball field against Truman State at noon. The second game against the Bulldogs is scheduled for approximately 2 p.m.
Sunday pits the Hawks (7-14, 1-1 GLVC) against Quincy at home. First pitch in Game One is scheduled for noon, while the second game should begin around 2 p.m.
The Hawks are coming off three straight losses to Wisconsin-Parkside (one loss) and Southwest Baptist (two losses).
Men's and Women's Tennis: Hawks host Newman on Sunday
The Rockhurst men's and women's tennis teams will host the Newman Jets at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Loyola Park tennis courts. The men are 8-2 after winning all four of their matches in Florida last week. The women improved their record to 6-4 with a 4-0 record in Florida. Friday's matches at home against Kansas Wesleyan have been cancelled due to rain in the forecast.
