Curtis Lewis guided Rockhurst to a 72-56 conference road win over Quincy, posting 24 points, nine assists and eight rebounds Saturday in Quincy, Illinois.
The Hawks jumped out to a 34-22 halftime lead with Lewis collecting nine points and five assists. The sophomore point guard came back in the second half to score 15 points and add four assists.
Quinton Curry finished with 14 points (on seven-of-nine shooting) and five rebounds.
Nick Volz came off the bench to tally nine points and five rebounds.
Chris Hamil added eight points and six rebounds.
Tyler Garrett grabbed nine rebounds in his first start of the season.
"I loved our defensive intensity today, including our bench and how active and energized they were to help us get stops," said Rockhurst coach
Drew Diener. "Every conference win is huge. Our guys responded well to our loss (at Truman State) on Thursday."
Rockhurst shot 46.8 percent from the field (29 of 62) and hit seven of 17 three-pointers (41.2 percent). Demetrius Houston led Quincy (4-3, 1-1 GLVC) with 12 points. Quincy shot 34.5 percent from the field (20 of 58).
The Hawks (4-3, 1-1 GLVC) return home to host Benedictine on Wednesday night.
