Hawks post 95-87 overtime win at Rogers State

Rockhurst scored 15 points in overtime in collecting a 95-87 non-conference road win over Rogers State Saturday in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Eddie Muench, Connor Evans and Chris Hamil each drained a three-pointer to give the Hawks a 91-82 lead with 1:43 left in overtime. Undra Wilson sank four free throws in the final 27 seconds.

Muench led the Hawks with 21 points on eight-of-14 shooting, including hitting five three-pointers. Curtis Lewis posted 19 points and six assists. Quinton Curry tallied 15 points on seven-of-nine shooting.

Chris Hamil scored 11 points. Connor Evans added 10 points and seven rebounds. Auston Rushing notched nine points on three three-pointers.

Jordan Johnson led Rogers State (2-2) with 33 points.

The Hawks ended the second half on a 10-5 run to force overtime. Lewis tied the score at 80-80 with a layup with 34 seconds left.

Rockhurst also rallied from a 42-32 deficit late in the first half. Hamil and Evans combined for eight points as the Hawks ended the half on a 12-5 run.

"I'm very proud of our ability to fight back late for the win. Our backs were against the wall, and we responded like winners. That was the best takeaway," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener.

"Also, we had only 10 turnovers, which was a main focus this week. Our guys executed a good few days of prep very well."

Rockhurst shot 56.4 percent from the field (31 of 55) and hit 12 of 26 three-pointers (46.2 percent). The Hawks (2-2) return home to host York on Saturday, Nov. 24.
