Balanced attack leads Hawks to 91-61 win over York

Six players scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to a 91-61 victory over the York Panthers Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Quinton Curry led the Hawks with 17 points and five rebounds. Eddie Muench scored 15 points on five three-point baskets. Chris Hamil posted 13 points with four 3-pointers and three steals. Nick Volz collected 12 points and four rebounds.

Freshman Tyler Garrett tallied 11 points, three rebounds and three assists. Auston Rushing also finished with 11 points. Curtis Lewis had a team-high nine assists and five rebounds. Connor Evans added a team-high seven rebounds and three steals.

"We had a great defensive effort again today," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "Our rotations were great. I was very pleased with that. We had another game with only 10 turnovers; that is great."

Rockhurst shot 48.3 percent from the field (28 of 59) and 41.7 percent from behind the arc (15 of 36). The Hawks went on a 28-12 run in the second half to take a 77-46 lead with 8:22 left to play.

Player of the Game: Quinton Curry. The sophomore forward connected on five-of-eight field goals. He scored 13 of his team-high 17 points in the first half.

Game Notes:
  • The Hawks scored 45 points beyond the 3-point line, while holding York to 20 points in the paint.
  • Rockhurst outrebounded the Panthers, 37-29.
