Hawks handle Ottawa in three sets

Rockhurst notched its 25th win of the season Tuesday night at Mason-Halpin Field House, defeating Ottawa in three sets (25-12, 25-10, 25-13).

Karli Reichert recorded a team-high 17 kills. Alyssa Woodman added 11 kills.

Dani Prusha led the Hawks in assists with 35. Kalie Arnold collected a team-best 12 digs. Mary Rolf led the way in blocks with six.

Set One: Rockhurst 25, Ottawa 10
Rockhurst started out hot, scoring the first four points of the opening set. A flurry by Ottawa got the Braves back within two at 8-6, but it was all Rockhurst the rest of the set. The Hawks outscored Ottawa 17-6 the rest of the way, including a 5-0 run to end the set.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, Ottawa 10
Tied 2-2 early, the Hawks scored seven of the next eight points to open up a 9-3 lead. Rockhurst again closed the set on a 5-0 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Set Three: Rockhurst 25, Ottawa 13
The Hawks kept their foot on the gas in the third set, jumping out to a 10-2 lead. Ottawa got back within six at 14-8, but Rockhurst went on to double that margin in wrapping up the match.

Player of the Game: Karli Reichert. The junior from Kansas City, Missouri was efficient with a .536 hitting percentage on her 17 kills. Reichert also added eight digs.
