Box Score Rockhurst opened the 2017 season with a 16-5 victory over Ottawa Wednesday night in Ottawa, Kan.

Sam Roth led the Hawks with four goals and one assist. Hannah Weisbrod scored three goals. Tessa Boots and Lily Molina each collected two goals. Madeline Gilstrap added one goal and one assist.

Weisbrod scored all three of her goals in the first half to give the Hawks a 6-4 halftime lead. Rockhurst outscored Ottawa 10-1 in the second half behind three goals by Roth.

Rockhurst outshot Ottawa, 30-18. Weisbrod led the Hawks with seven shots. Roth added six shots. Boots and Maddi Scheipeter each tallied four draw controls. Leena Nabulsi posted 10 saves.

The Hawks play Florida Southern on Friday in Lebanon, Ill.
