Rockhurst opens NCAA Tournament with 3-1 win

Box Score Rockhurst opened the NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Bellarmine in the first round of the Midwest Regional Thursday in Romeoville, Illinois.

Rockhurst (29-7) will face seventh-seeded Findlay in the regional semifinals at 5 p.m. Friday. Findlay upset second-seeded Hillsdale, 3-2, in the first round.

The Hawks won the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-20. Bellarmine posted a 25-22 win in the third set. Rockhurst closed out the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.

Karli Reichert led the Hawks with 10 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. Alyssa Woodman posted 11 kills and 13 digs.

Emily Matio finished with nine kills and five blocks. Audrey Arand tallied nine kills and three blocks. Mary Rolf added seven kills and four blocks.

Anne Hellwege had a team-high 23 digs. Grace Carter finished with 49 assists and 15 digs.
