Hawks receive No. 3 seed in Midwest Region

The Rockhurst Hawks received their 11th invitation to the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships. Third-seeded Rockhurst (28-7) will meet sixth-seeded Bellarmine (23-8) in a first-round match on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 12:00 p.m. in the Midwest Regional at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. The Midwest Regional winner will advance to the Division II national quarterfinals, Dec. 7-9, in Pensacola, Florida.

The Hawks are returning to the NCAA Championships for the fourth year in a row. Rockhurst reached the regional finals seven times between 1998 and 2014. The Hawks defeated Ferris State in the 2015 NCAA Midwest Region finals. Rockhurst also reached the regional finals in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2014.

Sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Woodman leads the team in kills (40) and points (453.5). Sophomore middle hitter Mary Rolf is the team leader in blocks (105). Senior libero Anne Hellwege has posted a team-high 621 digs. Senior setter Grace Carter tops the team with 889 assists.

Six Rockhurst players rank among the top 10 statistically in the GLVC. Woodman ranks seventh in kills and ninth in points. Karli Reichert is ninth in kills and 10th in points. Rolf stands third in hitting percentage. Hellwege ranks eighth in digs. Grace Carter is ninth in assists and ninth in hitting percentage. Emily Matio ranks fourth in hitting percentage.
