Box Score Rockhurst's Adam Michel scored in the eighth minute to lead the second-seeded Hawks to a 1-0 victory over Maryville in a second-round NCAA Midwest Region game Sunday in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship at Rockhurst's Bourke Field.

Rockhurst (14-2-2) will now face top-seeded Ohio Valley (17-1-4) in the Midwest Regional finals on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. CST at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, W.Va. The winner of the Midwest Regional will face the Central Region winner between Northeastern (OK) State and Fort Hays State in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday at 12:00 pm CST in Philippi, W.Va.

Michel scored the winning goal on a shot inside the left post from 12 yards out off a right cross from Michael Panarisi with 38:48 left in the first half.

"It was important for us to get an early goal from one of top players in Adam Michel. We kept our defense tight in the middle in the second half," said Rockhurst coach Tony Tocco, who is the second winningest men's soccer coach in NCAA history with 694 wins (one win behind Ohio Wesleyan's Jay Martin).

The Hawks outshot Maryville (13-4-2) by a 14-3 margin. Michel led Rockhurst with four shots. Rockhurst's Logan Feldmann made one save, while Maryville's Christian Kjaersgaard stopped five shots.
