Eighth-ranked Hawks end regular season with 3-1 road win

Box Score The eighth-ranked Rockhurst Hawks wrapped up the regular season with a hard fought 3-1 victory at Illinois Springfield Wednesday night.

Rockhurst takes a 13-1-2 overall record into postseason play. The Hawks, first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 12-1-1 record, will host eighth-seeded Missouri S&T in the quarterfinals of the GLVC Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The victory gives head coach Tony Tocco his 693rd career win (tied for most career wins among men's college soccer coaches with Ohio Wesleyan's Jay Martin).

Junior midfielder Gianluca Bottoni scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute off a redirected cross. Umoh Ufot and Kaleb Jackson assisted on Bottoni's first goal of the season.

Ufot added an insurance goal in the 85th minute. The junior forward scored his sixth goal of the season off a pass from Swann Vincent.

Jackson knotted the game at 1-1 with his team-high 11th goal in the 11th minute. Ben McDonald and Michael Panarisi set up the game-tying goal.

Rockhurst outshot the Prairie Stars, 15-7. Adam Michel led the Hawks with three shots. Jackson, Panarisi and Sean Michel added two shots apiece.
