Kaleb Jackson notched his second goal of the season in the 44th minute to give the Hawks a two-goal lead. Jackson drilled a shot from 18 yards into the upper right corner off a pass from freshman
Dom Parry.
The Hawks played the final 20-plus minutes with 10 players after freshman
Sean Michel received a red card. Fort Hays State cut Rockhurst's lead in half with a goal in the 84th minute on a header off a direct kick.
Rockhurst outshot the Tigers, 14-8.
Mitch Moncada led the Hawks with three shots.
The Hawks (2-0) host Wisconsin-Parkside in their conference opener on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
