Box Score Saint Joseph's held off a Rockhurst rally in the fourth quarter to post a 77-69 victory over the Hawks Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Pumas made 13-of-16 free throws in the final period to win their 17th game of the season. Saint Joseph's sank eight-of-10 foul shots in the final 1:07 after Rockhurst pulled within five points on a 3-point shot by Marisa Lowe.
Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 27 points and five assists. Dineen hit eight-of-16 shots, including five-of-10 shots from behind the 3-point line.
Two free throws by Dineen at the 4:55 mark of the fourth quarter cut Saint Joseph's lead to 61-59. The Pumas then went on an 8-0 run over the next three minutes.
Lauren Meyers posted 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Lowe scored nine points on three 3-point field goals. Jillian Myers collected five points, five rebounds and five steals.
Saint Joseph's made 26-of-56 field goals (46.4 percent) and six-of-11 three-point shots. Lauren Davis paced the Pumas with 24 points, six assists and four steals.
The Hawks, 13-10 and 6-9 in the GLVC, host Quincy on Thursday (February 18).
