McKendree holds off Hawks in fourth quarter

McKendree scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for an 83-69 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks went on a 16-0 run late in the third quarter to cut McKendree's lead from 21 to five points.

McKendree opened the final quarter on a 12-5 run to take 66-54 lead and never let Rockhurst get closer than eight in the final five minutes. The Bearcats made all 10 of their free throws in the final 10 minutes.

Tori Miller led the Hawks with 20 points on six-of-11 shooting from the field and eight-of-12 at the foul line. She also finished with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Keeley Steele posted 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Julia Wright tallied 11 points with three 3-pointers and four blocks.
