Rockhurst earns third trip to the NCAA semifinals with 1-0 win over Fort Hays State

Box Score Rockhurst is returning to the National Semifinals in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships for the third time in the last four years. The sixth-ranked Hawks edged 16th-ranked Fort Hays State, 1-0, in the Super Region 2 championship game Sunday at the Fort Hays State University Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kan.

The Hawks (18-2-3) will face Charleston (W.Va.) in the D-II National Semifinals on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Kansas City's Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village.

Junior forward Kaleb Jackson scored the winning goal early in the second half. Jackson chipped the ball over the Fort Hays State keeper Michael Yantz from just inside the 18-yard box in the 49th minute. It was Jackson's 12th goal of the season and his seventh game-winning goal of the season. Adam Michel and Sal Caruso both assisted on the goal.

Fort Hays State (14-5-1) outshot Rockhurst, 13-8. The Hawks' Logan Feldmann stopped seven shots in posting his 11th shutout of the season. FHSU's Yantz made three saves.
