Rockhurst meets Indianapolis in GLVC Tournament

Rockhurst earned the No. 1 seed in the West and will face Indianapolis in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament on Friday (Nov. 18) at 8:30 p.m. in East Peoria, Ill.

The eight-team tournament is broken down into seeds 1-4 East and 1-4 West with the top three teams from each division and two wild cards, which both happened to come from the West Division this year.

Rockhurst (26-5, 16-2 GLVC) was perfect in the West, going 10-0 in divisional matches. The 21st-ranked Hawks will be making their 12th appearance in the championship event and have won the title back in 2012. Indianapolis is 15-15 overall and 10-8 in the GLVC.

Lewis won the East Division title and was tabbed with the top seed in the East after going 17-1 in league play and 24-6 overall. The Flyers will face West No. 4 Quincy (16-14, 10-8 GLVC) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Lewis is the defending GLVC Tournament champion.

McKendree (21-9, 16-2 GLVC) is the second seed in the East and will meet No. 3 in the West Missouri-St. Louis (18-11, 12-6 GLVC) at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Truman State is the No. 2 seed in the West and take on the East's third seed in Drury (21-10, 11-7 GLVC). Despite Drury being a West Division team, it was seeded in the East ahead of Indianapolis and Quincy based on the Panthers' .611 conference winning percentage.

Each of the four winners from Friday will advance to the semifinals set for 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 19). The winners of each semifinal match will face each other on Sunday (Nov. 20) at 12 p.m. for a shot at being crowned 2016 GLVC Volleyball Champions.
